Sacramento, CA | Three people are dead after a vehicle was struck by a Sacramento RT Light Rail Train Saturday evening.

When the female driver of a east bound vehicle went around the railroad crossing arms on 26th Avenue between 24th Street and Franklin Blvd., her car was struck by the south bound RT Train per an on scene witness. 

The vehicle flipped several times and at least one person was ejected from the vehicle that was occupied by three adults and and a twenty-one month old infant, stated Niko King, Assistant Chief for the Sacramento Fire Department.

The witness we spoke with rushed to help when the wreck occurred. He stated that he checked for pulses and only found a pulse on one person in the vehicle.

Two adults and one child were deceased, one adult was critical and transported to the hospital and seventeen patients from the train were evaluated by on scene paramedics with six of those being transported to area hospitals said Sargent Andrew Pettit, Sacramento Police Department.

King added that after the incident, the fire department will tend to their own. This was a devastating and graphic scene King stated. Al providers on the incident will engage in an incident stress debriefing.
