Sacramento, CA | Two arson fires set at former “The Rusty Duck” near downtown Sacramento.

Early Wednesday morning, Sacramento Fire Department received a water flow alarm for the former local dining icon “The Rusty Duck Restaurant Saloon” which now stands vacant and for sale.

When firefighters arrived they could hear the sound of gushing water coming from the building and had some light smoke. After gaining access to the building, having to cut through fences,  firefighters discovered two fires had been set, one by the lower floor side door and one on the second floor.

Fire damage was minimal,  per the on scene Battalion Chief, due to the fire sprinkler system that activated, however water damage from the sprinkler system was significant on the second and first floors.

A fire investigator was called to the scene and an investigation is underway.
