Early afternoon Sunday, a field between the railroad tracks and a neighborhood caught fire at the north end of the Florin Rd. Light Rail Station off Indian Ln and Yreka Ave. A high sound wall protected the homes as firefighters took a let burn stance. Letting the residual fuel burn off under controlled conditions prevents another fire striking up under worse conditions that might not be as easy to control, putting homes at risk.
