SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A house caught on fire in Sacramento’s Upper Land Park neighborhood.

Around 9:30 Saturday morning, Sacramento firefighters responded to a home at 879 3rd Avenue for a possible structure fire.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke showing from a detached garage behind the home. After accesing the garage, crews found a small debris fire inside that had made it’s way up into the attic. There was some initial access issues due to the small size of the garage and the attic access stairs already being burned through. Crews were able to cut through the structure to gain the needed access.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway. Crews believe they had found an obvious area of orgin of the fire.

The fire was contained to the detached garage, with no extension into the main home.
