Firefighters, Sheriff respond to baby left in hot car

SACRAMENTO, CA (Carmichael) – Sheriff detectives are investigating the shooting death of a young woman early Saturday morning in Carmichael.

Deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded around 2:45 Saturday morning to an apartment complex on the 5900 block of Sutter Avenue in Carmichael regarding a woman who had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located an eighteen year-old female victim (identified later as Joslynn Sovenski, 18, of El Dorado Hills) inside an apartment and determined that she had suffered a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Deputies requested emergency medical personnel, and immediately began to attempt lifesaving measures on the victim until paramedics arrived. All attempts to revive the victim failed and she was pronounced deceased on scene.

Two other occupants believed to have been inside the apartment at the time of the incident have been detained for further investigation. The motive for this incident remains unknown, as does the relationship between the victim and the individuals who are being questioned by detectives.
