SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Police are investigating the stabbing death of a 55-year-old male Monday evening in North Sacramento.

Just after 9:05 Monday evening, officers from the Sacramento Police responded to reports of a man that had been stabbed just outside of a residential apartment near the 2600 block of Rio Linda Blvd.

The victim, later identified as Carlos M. Rios, 55, was found be officers to be suffering from apparent stab wounds. The suspect, who was possible known to the victim, had fled from the area prior to police arrival.

Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he received emergency medical treatment, but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators were called out to the scene to assist with the investigation. During a preliminary investigation detectives determined that the victim had engaged in a confrontation with multiple subjects prior to the fatal assault.

Although the circumstances surrounding the assault are not immediately clear, detectives are continuing their investigation into the case. No arrests have been made at this time.
