SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Four people were cited for reckless driving early Sunday morning.

Sacramento Police Department is cracking down on the dangerous and property damaging activity of of “Side-Show Car Meetups”, a subculture growing rapidly in Sacramento.

Around 1:45 AM Sunday, Sacramento police officers with assistance from the California Highway Patrol’s fixed-wing airship, surveilled and recorded three vehicles doing doughnuts, “drifting” and recklessly driving on Warehouse Drive off of 23rd Avenue and Florin Perkins Road.

Officers quickly blocked the three vehicles in and cited three drivers and a passenger. The charges range from reckless driving to spectating.

The area where the incident occurred is a trouble area for street racing and sideshow type events. Last week, Sacramento police officers conducted an operation that resulted in 90 citations being given to drivers and spectators for reckless driving.
