ANTELOPE, Calif. – A firefighter battling a house fire in Antelope was taken to the hospital after a partial collapse of the home.

Just before 7:15 Monday morning firefighters responded to a reported house fire on Firestone Way in Antelope.

When firefighters arrived they found the garage portion of the home on fire with flames extending through the roof.

Details are limited, but reports indicate that during the fire fight, one of the firefighters became trapped as the home partially collapsed. It was unclear if the firefighter had been working inside the building or on the roof at the time of collapse.

Other firefighters on scene were able to free the firefighter from the collapse and transport him to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries were not immediately known.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
